In what ways did Jesus bring hope and peace to the people during His life on earth?

He healed the blind, the sick, and the lame. He brought the dead back to life.

What did Jesus offer to these people? What does He offer to you?

He is the Resurrection and the Life. He is our Advocate with the Father. Through faith in Him we can become new creatures as we repent and make covenants with God. Jesus overcame sin and death for everyone. As we value His gift, we will see and feel the blessings of it.

What are some things that you hope for today?

Is your hope centered in Jesus Christ and all that He offers you?

What circumstances during Jesus’s life and ministry caused the people to increase in hope, and what circumstances caused them to lose hope.

What are the circumstances today that are causing you to lose hope.

“In the world ye shall have tribulation, but be not afraid, I have overcome the world.

How does Jesus Christ bring you hope and peace in your life? What personal efforts are you making so that you can have His companionship and feel His miracles in your life?

President Nelson:

When He suffered for our sins and weaknesses, died on the cross, and rose again, the Savior rewrote humanity’s story. Because of Him, we do not have to deal with our frailties, sins, and fears alone. Because of Him, death is not the end. Resurrection will come to all who have ever lived. Because of Him, families can be together forever. Because of Jesus Christ, we celebrate Easter. And Easter is all about peace and hope. …let us worship and praise Him for the peace, hope, light, and truth He brings to us.

Job 19:25–26 25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

Psalms 16:8–11I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalms 30:2–5 O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Psalms 33:18–22 18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Isaiah 1:18 18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Isaiah 25:8–9 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

¶ And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Isaiah 40:28–3128 ¶ Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Jeremiah 17:7–8 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Personal Reflection:

  1. Study “The Living Christ,” written by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, looking for phrases that testify of the peace and hope the Savior offers. Students could share what they found and why it is meaningful to them.
  2. Select hymns or other songs that teach of the peace and hope the Savior offers. Sing one of them. Then share phrases from that hymn that are meaningful to you. Some examples are “Where Can I Turn for Peace,” Hymns, no. 129; “My Redeemer Lives,” Hymns, no. 135; and “I Feel My Savior’s Love,” Children’s Songbook, 74.
  3. Read the following statement from President Russell M. Nelson or watch “The Peace and Hope of Easter, President Russell M. Nelson Palm Sunday Invitation” from time code 3:50 to 5:11. Share how attending church or listening to general conference helps us reflect on the peace and hope the Savior offers.

This Easter, I encourage you to focus on the Savior. If you are looking for a place to worship, please join with us. On [or near] Easter Sunday, the worldwide general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be filled with Christ-centered messages and music. We will gather [in person and] virtually to worship our Redeemer. Please join with us. Invite your friends!
  4. Jesus Christ lives! As our resurrected and atoning Savior, He stands ready to help us grow from the dramatic, unexpected events in our lives. At this Easter season, let us worship and praise Him for the peace, hope, light, and truth He brings to us. (“The Peace and Hope of Easter, President Russell M. Nelson Palm Sunday Invitation,” video, ChurchofJesusChrist.org

Read and write your feelings and impressions, you can make up one day of Seminary. The real payment though will be your increased understanding and love for the Lord.

When have you felt hope and peace through Jesus Christ?

The Prince of Peace

Because He Lives
